The little streaming video service that could, Redbox Instant, has been making itself available across multiple platforms ever since it launched to the public earlier this year. We’ve seen the service available on the Xbox 360, Roku devices and even LG Smart TVs. Today, Redbox Instant is adding yet another platform it’s customers can their content: the PlayStation 3.

Sony will be making the Redbox Instant application available later today on the PlayStation 3, most likely after the PlayStation Store receives its weekly update. Redbox Instant will allow PlayStation 3 owners to access thousands of streaming movies from their consoles, although in a world where we’ve had Netflix and Hulu for years, we’re sure you probably expected this kind of service from the app anyways.

Those who aren’t Redbox Instant subscribers can sign up for a free month of service, which if you believe this is the streaming video service you need in your life, you can proceed to pay $8 a month in order to gain instant access to thousands of streaming movies instantly. You’ll also be able to get four DVD rental nights at Redbox kiosks, although Blu-ray movies will cost $1 extra. Considering how much better Blu-ray movies look compared to DVDs, we can easily recommend you got this route, especially since you already own a PlayStation 3.
