Microsoft in expected to release a new Windows 8.1 update in the coming weeks. So far there have been many rumors about the changes we can expect to see in the upcoming update. several screenshots of test builds have also leaked online over the past few weeks. The latest screenshots, and accompanying claims, from well known Russian leaker WZor predicts that the next Windows 8.1 update will automatically boot straight into the desktop, bypassing the tiles interface of the Start screen altogether.

It should be kept in mind that Microsoft already provides an option to users who want to skip tiled interface and want their PC to boot into desktop every time its switched on. If the latest rumor is true, then it would certainly be a major change, its not like the company hasn’t tried to get people to like this interface. It is not known right now how this major change will work on devices that only have touchscreens and those that have a mouse and a keyboard, presumably Windows will adjust itself accordingly based on the device its being run on. WZor also claims that the new Windows 8.1 update will place sleep, shutdown and restart power options on the Start screen. It is believed that this update will be released prior to the company’s BUILD conference in April.
