Huawei Octa-Core Kirin 920 CPU Spotted In Benchmark

kirin-920-antutuOne of Huawei’s most recent System-on-a-Chip would be the Kirin 920, where it has been spotted on a benchmark already. In this particular benchmark, the octa-core Kirin 920 chipset offers a performance that is comparable to that of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805. Just what makes up the innards of the Kirin 920? For starters, this octa-core chipset will feature a quartet of Cortex-A7 and and a similar number of Cortex-A15 CPU cores which will operate in a big.LITTLE arrangement. It cannot be ascertained as to whether they function in pairs, or whether Huawei has taken the path of heterogeneous (“true” octa-core) processing.

In does seem as though the Kirin 920 CPU will also feature an integrated ARM Mali-T628 GPU, dual-channel DDR3 800MHz RAM memory, LTE, support for 2560 x 1600 (WQXGA) resolution displays as well as camera sensors that go all the way to 32MP. Of course, assuming such a high resolution camera sensor is thrown into the mix, we do hope that everything else in the phone will be on equal high end footing – battery included. With an AnTuTu score of 37,363 that places it a wee bit below the unreleased Snapdragon 805, that ain’t too shabby at all. We also look forward to the day when the Kirin 920 chipset appears in a Huawei device sometime down the road.
