There have been quite a few rumors recently about Samsung’s upcoming tablets. Apparently the company had a new lineup of mid-range tablets up its sleeve, the refreshed Galaxy Tab 4, Samsung stylised it as Tab4. Today the refreshed lineup has officially been announced, it comes in 7-, 8-, and 10.1-inch display sizes. Since priority is to keep the price low, specifications are modest at best.

Most of the core specifications are the same across all three varieties. The 1.2GHz quadcore processor, 1.5GB RAM, 3 megapixel rear camera, microSD card slot as well as a 1,280×800 pixel resolution display are standard on all models. They all come with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI slapped on top. Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE connectivity options will be available for the Tab4 models.

The design borrows some cues from the Galaxy Note 3. It has a faux leather grain back, though faux stitching found in the popular phablet is missing on the new lineup. The bezels are a bit more pronounced than before. Up front there are physical navigation buttons despite the trend shift towards onscreen buttons.

Out of the lot, the 10.1 inch Galaxy Tab4 has the biggest battery, coming in at 6,800mAh. Other features include Multi-Windows support for running multiple apps simultaneously, WatchON, Samsung Link and Group Play support. Pricing and availability will vary by country.
