Birdly Brings You A Bird’s Eye View Perspective On Things

birdyThe Oculus Rift has certainly done its part to deliver various experiences that we used to be able to dream of only before, and this time around, it has worked to let you feel what it is like to be a bird – at least to the best of its ability, considering the obvious limitations. Known as Birdly, this virtual reality bird machine would let you soar the virtual skies with the wings of an awkward eagle, where you take to the air using an Oculus Rift and a drone.

Birdly’s creators hail from the Zurich University of the Arts, and they are Max Rheiner, Fabian Troxler, Thomas Tobler, and Thomas Erdin, who have described Birdly to be a “full-body flight simulator” that will be based on the movements of a bird in flight. It will comprise of a padded bed with tail and wings, an Oculus Rift headset, as well as a flight simulator software and a fan.

Something tells me it would be more fun if you could provide some water balloons or eggs to pelt the floor, as the simulator goes around on top of newly washed cars. After all, isn’t that always the case when it comes to bird poop? You’ve just pulled out from the car wash only to find a streak of goo, inching down your windshield after making its journey from a hundred feet up.
