During the first outage in February this year, rival messaging app Telegram actually gained millions of new users along the way at a rate of approximately 100 new members per second. So far, WhatsApp has its fair share of ups and downs, with the app being pulled from the Windows Store because the app has been attributed to come with bugs that actually drain the batteries of Windows Phone smartphones. Word on the street has it too, that Microsoft is working on teaming up with WhatsApp so that the messaging app will eventually be made available on that platform.
Whatever it is, if WhatsApp outages do happen more and more frequent, it is always a good thing to have a backup messaging app. Would you prefer the likes of Viber instead?
