One of Samsung’s flagship variants from last year is finally getting an update to KitKat. Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom receives the Android 4.4 update today, it was the company’s first attempt at making a smartphone with a full-fledged camera on the back. The update roll out was first spotted in Russia so it is only a matter of time before it spreads to other markets as well.

Samsung didn’t stop its smartphone-cum-camera ambitions with the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Earlier this year it launched the Galaxy K Zoom. It doesn’t look like the company has brought over software features from that particular variant in the Android 4.4 update.

The Galaxy S4 Zoom Android 4.4 update brings all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from KitKat. For starters there’s a camera shortcut on the homescreen which is much more suited to the core purpose of this device.

Users will also notice that the status bar has been redesigned and that the system’s overall performance has been improved as well. The update also brings wireless printing support, full-screen album art and updates for Samsung’s native applications.

As previously mentioned the update is going to be rolled out in stages so it may take a while before it becomes available in all regions. It shouldn’t take too long though.
