Telltale Games’ popular episodic series The Walking Dead may have wrapped up the second season but its not going to bow out without first landing on next-generation consoles. The Walking Dead release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was confirmed today through Twitter. This is the first time that the series will be launched for these consoles. Having wrapped up The Walking Dead Season 2, Telltale Games has now shifted its focus towards Tales from the Borderlands and the Game of Thrones series.

It was officially confirmed today that The Walking Dead: Season One release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will take place in October. As already mentioned this is the first time that the series is coming to next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

This retail release will be followed by The Walking Dead: Season 2 which will not only arrive for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but also for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Vita also in October. Telltale Games has only provided the month for now, it has not confirmed the precise release date.

It has also not confirmed if the title’s next-gen versions are a straight port or if they have been remastered for both consoles. Another question is about the ability to transfer data across previous-gen and next gen-consoles, there’s no confirmation on that as well. Hopefully Telltale Games will make this clear soon.
