It is understandable why some people are a little concerned when it comes to self-driving cars. After all it basically means you’re giving up control of your vehicle and relying completely on hardware and software to function as it was intended, which we have to admit can be a little scary.

That being said, if the idea of a normal self-driving car is a little scary, wouldn’t it be a lot more scary if that self-driving car was of the sports variety? Well it looks like the folks at Audi have been pushing the envelope as they have recently taken the wraps off their self-driving Audi RS7 car in Germany.

According to Audi, they are boasting that the Audi RS7 is the fastest autonomous car on the planet where it managed to race around a race track at a speed of 149mph, which is pretty damn fast! The car used sensors and technology such as 3D cameras and GPS to help guide its way around the course.

While we doubt the self-driving RS7 will be making its debut on the road anytime soon, we suppose it just goes to show that the technology today is good enough and fast enough to react even when going at really high speeds. In in the meantime if you’re curious as to what a self-driving car driving at 149mph looks like, check out the video above.
