According to van Paasschen who spoke about how and why he made the transition to the tablet, “I thought, you know what, I actually don’t use [my desktop computer]. I do all of my work via mobile so essentially my office is wherever I go, and I can be much more productive.” Due to the fact that he has to rely on the onscreen keyboard or a Bluetooth keyboard, the emails he sends tend to be shorter.
He also mentions that he conducts personal reviews via FaceTime and that he tends to avoid opening huge spreadsheet files, instead preferring if the person could condense it into a few key points making it easier for him to understand, while saving him a lot of time in the process. However as productive as an iPad can be, van Paasschen admits that the desktop is still needed in some instances.
So what do you guys think of the iPad (or tablets in general) as a productivity tool? Have you noticed your productivity increase when you started to incorporate the use of tablets in your work or daily life? Or do you still think that tablets are more of an entertainment device?
