Amazon UK Software Glitch Accidentally Prices Third-Party Goods At $0.01

amazon-kindle-fire-hdx-8.9-review-5Pricing glitches happen to online retailers more times than they would like, and sometimes this works out in the favor of customers who get to purchase products are extremely low prices due to their mislabeling. However for the most part, most companies tend to cancel these orders with an apology and nothing more.

Well it looks like Amazon UK is no exception. Reports have revealed that due to a software bug, it seems that items sold by third-party vendors were accidentally priced at $0.0.1, which safe to say is pretty much a steal regardless of what you’re looking at. This is thanks to an error on Amazon Marketplace’s Repricer Express system.

The glitch affected listings between 7 and 8PM GMT and also affected sellers where their seller’s fees had not been cut, which means that essentially these sellers were giving money to Amazon to sell products on their website for almost free. Amazon has since acknowledged the problem and released a statement to Sky News.

“We are aware that a number of Marketplace sellers listed incorrect prices for a short period of time as a result of the third party software they use to price their items on Amazon.co.uk.” Amazon has also stated that most of the orders placed during that time have since been cancelled.
