Lyft Lets Riders Split Fares

In the wake of all the bad press that Uber has been getting the company’s rivals are doing their best to prop up their own services. Lyft is an Uber rival that has been around for a while now and today it pushed out a new update which comes with a feature that brings parity with Uber. While Lyft doesn’t boast the international presence that Uber has, it’s working hard as well to expand into newer markets particularly at home.

The latest update for the Lyft application brings the ability to split fares between passengers. To explain it in easier terms, this means that if you and your friend take a ride using Lyft you’ll both be able to split the fare among yourselves.

It is really simple to split the cost of the ride. There’s a “split payment” option in the “ride options” menu. Tapping on it opens the contact list from where up to five people can be chosen to share the ride’s cost. They’ll all receive a text to either open the Lyft app or download it to accept, until and unless they don’t open the app, they won’t be liable to split the fare with you.

This makes things easier for all riders since there’s no cash changing hands and the calculations are as accurate as they can get, its a win-win for everyone.
