Samsung Xcover 3 Spotted In The Wild

xcover3Samsung is well known for rolling out a whole lot of different smartphones from time to time, so much so that they will be able to cater to a very different crowd. Well, it seems that the Galaxy S range has been seeing plenty of action over the years, but the lesser well known Xcover family has not been updated in a good two years – with the most recent Galaxy Xcover 2 having launched in January 2013. Thankfully, for those who had hoped to see some progress, it seems as though the spanking new Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is about to roll out – where it carries the model number SM-G388F, although the hardware underneath the hood does seem to remain within the average band as usual.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 3 is touted to arrive with a Marvell Armada PXA1908 chipset that is mated to a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU, where it will be accompanied by the likes of 1GB RAM, a 4.8” display at 800 x 480 pixels resolution and 8GB of internal memory. At the back lies a 5MP camera, while the front-facing shooter would be a 2MP sensor. As you can tell from the hardware specifications alone, performance is far from being the main criteria, but rather, it intends to deliver a rugged handset that simply works. While we do not know how much it will cost nor when will it roll out, we do know this much – that it runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
