Meizu Ubuntu Smartphone Teased Before MWC Kicks Off

meizu-ubuntu-teaseThe folks over at Canonical have had their eyes on Ubuntu being used to power smartphones in terms of software, and this long running vision is no doubt an ambitious one. Well, Canonical has come up with a scheme for a unified cross-device application ecosystem long ago – which should be familiar with those who think that Microsoft’s Windows 10 platform is the bee’s knees, but progress has been painstakingly slow. Well, Meizu has teased their upcoming Ubuntu-powered handset over on Facebook, where the image does point to the possibility of a spanking new operating system, which will then be on par with the likes of Flyme and YunOS as in all probability, it will be unveiled later this year at MWC.

Of course, one can always point a finger in the direction of Ubuntu Touch, which will, fingers crossed, end up in mass-produced devices. Do bear in mind that the Ubuntu Touch platform happens to be a uniform kernel and set of base technologies which will end up delivering a cross device application platform. With such a high level of uniformity and compatibility, you can more or less make use of a similar set of applications, regardless of whether it is on mobile or on a desktop.
