Android 5.1 Rolling Out To Moto G Google Play Edition Handsets

moto-g-2014-review-13The Moto G Google Play Edition was launched early last year and it seems that it was good for only a year as it was discontinued early this year. Now if you were worried that support for the handset would end once it had been discontinued, fret not because it looks like it won’t. According to a handful of reports from users of the device, it seems that Google has recently begun to roll out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the handset.

As expected of the update, it will come with the same fixes, improvements, and new features belonging to Android 5.1. Now if you have yet to receive the update yourself, you can rest easy because chances are it is being rolled out on a staggered basis, meaning that if you don’t receive the update today or tomorrow, it should be on its way so just remain patient and it will arrive in due time!

In the meantime we have been hearing reports that Android 5.1 has been rolling out to other handsets of the Nexus family, such as the latest flagship from Google, the Nexus 6. The Nexus 5 is also said to be receiving its update and as for non-Nexus or Google Play Edition handsets, HTC appears to be mulling the idea of bringing the Android 5.1 update to the HTC One M7 handset which was released two years ago.
