AT&T today released the much awaited Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S4. The update is being rolled out over-the-air, as all software updates are these days, which means that it will require some time before it’s available to all users all across the country. The carrier has put up the software update article on its website so that’s as official as it can get. If you don’t see the update notification on your device yet rest assured as it will be arriving very soon.

The Galaxy S4 SHG-i337 Lollipop update comes in at just under 1GB. It’s a pretty hefty file given the fact that it’s bumping up the Galaxy S4 from Android 4.4.4 which was released for this device by AT&T back in November last year.

Users will immediately notice the user interface improvements once they have installed the update. Material Design elements are front and center but that’s not all there is to Lollipop.

The update includes many new features like smart lock, battery saver, priority mode, updated native applications and much more.

The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for AT&T Galaxy S4 carriers build number LRX22C.1337UCUGOC3. It’s rolling out over-the-air and is also available through the Samsung Kies desktop software for those who just don’t want to wait for the OTA.
