U.S. Magistrate Judge Nathanael Cousins in San Jose, California, did mention that the plaintiffs have been given the green light to pursue a claim which cites Uber is a “travel service” that is subject to potential liability under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The judge has also thrown out the suggestion by Uber that the National Federation of the Blind of California as well as the plaintiffs do not have the necessary standing to sue under the ADA and state laws protecting the disabled. There will be 14 days given to Uber in order to respond to this complaint formally. Ket us keep our fingers crossed that all will be ironed out amicably in due time.
