HERE Enhances Global Transit Routes And Extends Offline Mapping To Africa

HERE Maps Transit Route

Offline maps were first brought in the light by Nokia’s HERE maps and now even Google Maps is going to tread the same path of offline mapping. Now to keep an upper hand, HERE is enhancing its services so that it can keep its users from going to other providers.

In the latest development, HERE maps has updated its service in Africa by making it visible on the offline maps as well. It has also improved its transit routes as well. The map service has included seven more countries in the continent — Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the island nation of São Tomé, Cameroon, Chad, Republic of Congo, Príncipe, and Central African Republic. The new update has brought more navigation options to the platter and has improved the navigation data in other African countries and cities such as Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, the Seychelles, Cape Verde, and Guinea-Bissau.

HERE has also enhanced the accuracy of public transit line, this means that the map will now display the actual bus and train routes. Earlier it only used to show the link between stations, now it will show the whole route that each transit options would take. We also hope that these detailed maps will soon turn into HD maps.

The update will reach you soon and for the enterprise subscribers, it will provide embedded data such as road weight limits and height restrictions (for truck loaders).
