Whack it with a hammer, attack it with a drill, or heck, why not vent your anger on life by stabbing it with a screwdriver, nothing will happen to it, thanks to this innovative pill dispenser designed by mechanical engineering students at Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering.
This unique tamper-resistant pill dispenser prototype will boast of a fingerprint scanner (looks like these are more useful for such devices than on smartphones), where the one on the left will verify the patient’s identity, while on the right will see it release the correct dosage within the prescribed time frame.
It tips the scales at 2.57 pounds and will be 9.25” in height, where it is made out of a similar super-tough steel alloy that is used when it comes to manufacturing aircraft landing gear, shares a similar fingerprint sensor that is found in select smartphones for accurate dispensation of medication. No idea on when a commercial model will be made available for the masses though, but that should be worth checking out when it happens. [Press Release]
