Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Update Brings About Battery Optimization

Samsung-Galaxy-Note-5-06If there is one thing we found odd about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is that it comes with a smaller battery than its predecessor. The phone features a 3,000mAh battery versus the 3,200mAh battery on the Galaxy Note 4, a bit odd considering that OEMs usually tend to improve on these kinds of things in newer versions.

However based on reviews, it seems that despite the smaller battery size, it still can handle its own pretty fine. That being said, the good news is that if you wanted even more battery life, it seems that there is an update being issued by Samsung to the Galaxy Note 5 handset that brings about battery optimization.

This is a maintenance update so before you get too excited, it is not the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, which we’re sure will eventually make its way onto your handset. This update is being pushed out in Europe at the moment and weighs in around 144MB, and apart from the usual bug fixes, battery optimization was one of them.

We’re not sure how much better your battery will get after this, but battery optimization is always welcome. However it should be pointed out that after applying this update, you will not be able to downgrade to an older version of Android due to changes in the security policy, meaning that if this is a bad upgrade, which we hope is not, you’re pretty much stuck with it until the next one arrives.
