According to a report from 9to5Mac, it has been revealed that Apple could soon start trialing a pilot program in which they will loan customers a 16GB iPhone while their device is getting repaired. However there is a catch here and that is the loaner will only be provided to customers whose phones are being sent out of the store to a specialized repair center.
Apparently the goal of this program is to help reduce the wait times at the Genius Bars, so by sending phones out to repair centers, there will be more staff on hand to help other customers. However to quality, your phone must have either of these problems, which is that it cannot connect to iTunes, it will not power on, and if it will not boot up past the Apple logo.
Apple claims that fixing these problems in-store is time consuming, so if the customer agrees to have their phone sent off-site, they will be loaned a 16GB iPhone 6 to use until it is fixed. The only downside to this is that you will need to make a return trip, but if you’d rather not hang around the store all day, perhaps this could end up being more efficient as well.
This program is said to in pilot testing so don’t expect it to be available in every Apple Store. Also depending on its success, it might not even make it past the pilot stage, but either way what do you guys think of this solution?
