Samsung Pay Support Goes Live On Verizon

Samsung-Pay-04

Even though its rivals were quick to confirm that they will support Samsung’s nascent payments service, Verizon decided that it will wait and watch before it decides to support Samsung Pay. The service went live in the country last month and because carrier support is absolutely required for it to work Verizon subscribers have been unable to use Samsung Pay, not for long though, because Verizon has started rolling out a new software update which finally enables Samsung Pay on compatible Samsung smartphones.

About a week back Verizon finally confirmed that it will support Samsung Pay, but it told users to wait for a future software update. That software update is now being rolled out.

Devices compatible with Samsung Pay include the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5. The release notes mention that once the update has been installed users will be able to get the Samsung Pay app when it goes live on the Google Play Store. It remains to be seen though when that happens because other carriers had simply loaded the app on supported devices via the software update.

It’s also mentioned in the release notes that fixes for the Stagefright Android security flaw are included in this update as well, the update is being gradually rolled out for the aforementioned device and it should go live across all regions in the country soon enough.
