These Services Are Offering Free Calls To France

I’m sure most of you will be well aware of what happened in France earlier this week, Paris was hit by a terrible wave of terrorist attacks one evening which has not only left the country but the entire world in shock. As support, thoughts and prayers for the country and those affected by this senseless tragedy pour in tech companies are also doing their part by waving charges and fees for calls and messages to France, These are the companies that have as yet announced free calls to France.

Google was perhaps the very first to announce that it’s offering free calls to France via Hangouts, wherever the service is available, users can simply dial the desired number and make the Hangouts call. They just need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network or have a cellular data connection.

Verizon has also announced that its users, both wireless and home telephone, can make calls to France without any charge. The offer also extends to text messaging from USA to France and ends November 15th.

Sprint is doing away with any fees and charges associated with making a call or sending a SMS message to France, and it’s even waving roaming charges to the country, this offer also extends to Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile customers. The offer is currently live but Sprint says that the end date is “yet to be determined.”

Skype is yet another VoIP service that’s letting users contact their loved ones in France for free by eliminating all charges for domestic and international calls to landlines and mobile phones. It says that the offer will be available to users for the “next few days.”

This post will be updated if any other companies announce similar offers.

Update: T-Mobile has also announced free calls and texts to France from the USA and Puerto Rico for all customers on the Simple Choice postpaid plan. The offer runs until November 15th.
