Next-Generation iPhone Believed To Be Waterproof

iPhone-6-review-18

Even though it has only been a few months since the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus were announced the rumor mill is already concerned with the handsets that Apple is due to launch in the coming year. There have also been rumors that a 4 inch iPhone is going to arrive by early next year. While that remains to be seen, word on the street is that the iPhone 7 is going to be waterproof and that it will feature “new compound materials” to conceal internal antennas.

Rumor has it that Catcher Technologies is going to supply Apple with up to 35% of chassis shipments for iPhone 7, claims a Taiwanese publication, thus enabling Catcher Technologies to become Apple’s largest chassis supplier

The possibility of a waterproof iPhone 7 has been mentioned multiple times in the past but this is the first time that it has been rumored that the next-generation iPhone will feature new compound materials to conceal the antennas. Apple will presumably try to integrate the antennas into the chassis itself.

It would be easier said than done to make the iPhone 7 waterproof, Apple would need to rethink the entire design since it will have to seal ports, switches and buttons to ensure that water does not seep inside the device and damage sensitive components.

It goes without saying that it’s still far too soon to be sure about what the iPhone 7 may or may not bring to the table, as with all rumors, take this with a grain of salt for now.
