Fujifilm XF100-400mm F4.5-5.6 OIS WR Lens Officially Unveiled

fujifilm XF100-400mmFujifilm’s X-series of cameras comes with a fair amount of XF lenses that photographers can choose from. However in case you were looking for a super-zoom lens, you might be interested to learn that the Fujifilm XF100-400m f/4.5-5.7 OIS WR lens has been officially announced, although safe to say that it will not come cheap.

According to Fujifilm, the XF100-400mm lens features an optical construction of 21 elements in 14 groups. This includes five ED lenses and one Super ED lens which will ultimately help to reduce the amount of chromatic aberration present in photos. We have yet to test this for ourselves, so we guess we’ll just have to take their word for it for now.

It also features optical image stabilization built into the lens itself, which is always a welcome feature. Given that zoom lenses are very sensitive to camera shake, this should help photographers capture blur-free images, even when at maximum focal length. Also for those unfamiliar with Fujifilm lenses, the “WR” stands for Weather Resistant.

This means that the lens is both water and dust resistant, and can also be operated under cold weather conditions up to 14F. Combine this with cameras like the X-Pro2 and the X-T1, and you’ve got yourself a camera that you can take with you to cold and rainy countries without any issue. Now like we said, it will not come cheap as the Fujifilm XF100-400mm lens will be priced at $1,899.95 and will be launched in February.
