Pebble is rolling out a new firmware update for its Pebble Time smartwatch that brings an improved health tracking and messaging experience. Those who own its smartwatch can now download the updated apps for iOS and Android, version 3.6 and version 3.9 respectively, and update the firmware of their smartwatch to version 3.9.

Pebble Health, the seamless step and sleep tracker in the wearable device, has been improved with this update. Watchfaces and apps with Pebble Health stats are now possible as a new API has been released, allowing developers to create Health-enabled watch faces which will soon be available from the Pebble appstore.

On the iPhone, Pebble users now have the ability to send custom replies to incoming messages while those who pair it with an Android smartphone can reply to incoming calls with a voice note, text or emoji. A new Send Text app for Android is coming as well which allows Pebble Time owners to start a conversation right from their wrist.

Another minor tweak enables Pebble Health to show step distance in kilometers, and improvements to its overall accuracy have also been made. There’s also a new look for the Watch-Only mode which kicks in when the battery is critically low.

The updated apps can be downloaded right away and Pebble firmware version 3.9 is also being rolled out today.
