Tesla Will Launch An Improved Powerwall Home Battery This Year

You’re mistaken if you think that Tesla only makes electric cars, given that it does make electric cars, Tesla knows a thing or two about extracting the best possible performance out of batteries. Last year it branched out with a rechargeable battery pack for the home called Powerwall, the battery pack can store solar energy and then provide backup as and when needed. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now said that the company will release a new version of the Powerwall later this year.

Tesla only offered the Powerwall in limited quantities however the company did see close to 40,000 pre-orders for its home battery pack and it eventually had to declare that the product was sold out through the first half of this year.

During a talk to Tesla owners in Paris, company CEO Elon Musk said that Tesla has seen very good results with its home battery pack. “We’ll be coming out with version two of the Powerwall probably around July, August this year, which will see further step change in capabilities,” he added.

Musk didn’t reveal what this step change is going to be but one can imagine that it might have something to do with increased efficiency, it’s not like the Powerwall will get the ability to browse the internet or something, because that would make absolutely no sense at all.
