Samsung Galaxy S7 Survives A 45 Minute Tumble In The Washing Machine

One of the features that Samsung brought back to the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge would be its water-resistant capabilities. This was a feature missing from its predecessor, and while having water-resistance isn’t necessarily a make or break feature, it is a nice thing to have and it does help users feel a bit ‘safer’.

That being said, a new video has surfaced in which YouTuber Max Lee decides to put the phone’s water-resistant capabilities to the test. How has he done that, you ask? Simple, by sticking the handset into a washing machine and having it tumble around inside the machine for the next 45 minutes.

Now the both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are rated IP68, meaning that it it is capable of withstanding submersion underwater up to depths of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes at a time. This means it will be interesting to see if the phone will survive 45 minutes in the machine, not to mention the chemicals in the detergent, the heat, and the tumbling around, all of which could potentially damage/wreck the handset.

Surprisingly enough according to the footage, the Galaxy S7 turned out fine and if anything, we reckon it was a little cleaner than when it went in. We’re not sure if there is any long-term damage, but know that the next time you forget to take the phone out of your pocket before you wash them, it seems like it should survive no problem.
