Twitch Might Help Develop New eSports League

twitch-ecsProfessional gaming has certainly come a long way from the early days of Doom, and here we are with word that Twitch would want to play a role in developing the next eSports league. Amazon-owned Twitch intends to be the exclusive broadcast partner in the Esports Championship Series, which will eventually realize the dreams of pro-gaming being ranked more on par with that of traditional sports.

So far, Twitch’s list of competitive gaming partnerships is certainly an impressive one, and it does not look as though it is set to remain stagnant or even shrink in the near future. In fact, they have recently come together with Vainglory, and having partnered with leading eSports platform Faceit, they will roll out the Esports Championship Series.

The Esports Championship Series is basically a pro-league which will be in the same direction as that of how the business and organizational segments of a traditional sport will function, with 20 teams split between the United States and Europe while the ECS offers co-ownership of teams. Twitch might very will be the uniting factor when all aspects of eSports will come under the ECS umbrella. Time remains the great difference maker in such an effort, but it is certainly a worthy one when you think of it.
