Season Finale Of Game Of Thrones Pulls In 8.9M Views

Game-Thrones-Season-6Earlier we had reported that on the piracy front, the season finale of Game of Thrones season 6 managed to net 1 million downloads in 8 hours. While this is a huge figure, it seems that it is around the same level and might even be lesser than some of its previous seasons. As it was speculated, this could be because viewers now had more legal alternatives to stream it.

Turns out that maybe they were right because according to the latest figures from Nielsen, it has been revealed that the season 6 finale for Game of Thrones actually broke official records where it managed to pull in 8.9 million views. Prior to this, the shocking end of season 5 managed 8.1 million, so the leap to 8.9 million is actually rather impressive.

The numbers are also expected to keep going up as there are some who probably waited for the entire season to be over before catching up, and there are also numbers to take into account from the HBO Now app as well. If anything we reckon that each and every season will probably end up breaking previous records as we edge closer to the finale.

According to the showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, they have confirmed that we are probably looking at a remaining 13 episodes before the show officially concludes.
