Quake Champions For Console Is A Possibility

quake championsFans of the Quake franchise were probably thrilled when Quake Champions was announced during E3. The game is a PC-only game at the moment, which isn’t surprising given that the Quake franchise has typically been PC-only. However the good news is that the possibility of it arriving on consoles is not out of the question.

Speaking to GameSpot in an interview during E3, id Software’s boss Tim Willits said, “It’s a PC game. No excuses. No limitations. We’re going to focus on one platform. We’re not totally shutting the door on consoles. We drew lines around this game to make the best game we can within the scope.”

He also notes that the game has also been designed to run on a variety of PC systems, meaning that they want to get as many players in on the game as possible, but at the same time they also want to reward players who might have better specs. “We want to make sure that we have as many people as we possibly can. You’ll be able to turn down your specs and get a decent game at lower-end. But we want to shine on good systems.”

As to when Quake Champions will be released, Willits stated that the studio was not planning on rushing it out, and that gamers should expect to be taking part in a very long beta before it is released, which we guess isn’t a bad thing since a rushed released won’t be doing anyone any favors.
