China Doesn’t Get Galaxy Note 7 With 6GB RAM After All

It was reported soon after Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 which features 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage that the company will soon release a variant just for China which will feature 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Many Samsung executives reportedly teased this variant as well by saying that it was “possible” for the company to launch a Note 7 with 6GB RAM in China. As it turns out, the People’s Republic has got the same Note 7 variant like every other market, at least for now.

The entire logic behind Samsung apparently launching the Note 7 with 6GB RAM was that since most Chinese OEMs are now pushing out smartphones with 6GB RAM, it would just “look good” if Samsung’s latest flagship had the same. It wouldn’t necessarily have made a difference in performance because more RAM doesn’t automatically translate into more performance.

Samsung has now started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 7 in China. The specifications of the variant being offered there are the same as what you can get in the United States. It has 4 gigs of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

China also gets the Snapdragon 820-powered variant of the Galaxy Note 7. Those who pre-order the handset which costs ¥5,988 ($897) will see their units being shipped by September 1st. Customers get some freebies as well for pre-ordering the handset.
