Physical Lyft Gift Cards Now Being Sold Via Starbucks

Next time you’re in a Starbucks, you can pick up a gift card for a popular ride-sharing service along with your coffee. Lyft has made physical gift cards worth $20 that it’s going to sell through Starbucks coffee shops across the U.S. The gift card provides the user with $20 in ride credit which they can use via the app. As an incentive to get people to buy these cards, a $20 Lyft gift card comes with a free $5 Starbucks gift card.

Lyft’s partnership with Starbucks goes even further. Lyft users will soon be able to start earning Starbucks Reward Stars by simply riding with Lyft.

Both companies have previously worked together to enable Lyft drivers to receive Starbucks virtual gift cards as tips. They are also testing a program in the San Francisco Bay Area where Starbucks employees are provided free rides from work late at night and until early morning.

The behind this was to make it easy for people who like physical gift cards to use this payment method for Lyft, and to provide users with more ways to gift Lyft credit.

Gift cards are only available in $20 denomination as the value fits with the average trip spend of a rider. For now, there’s only one denomination for Lyft’s physical gift cards. Riders will now be able to earn five Starbucks loyalty points if they take Lyft rides between 5 and 10AM, Monday through Friday.
