SVP Of Android Teases Major Android Milestone At October 4 Event

android nougatCome 4th of October, Google is expected to unveil the new Pixel phones, or at least that’s what the rumors are saying. There is also talk that Google could have a new product in the form of a router called Google WiFi that they plan to announce as well, but could that be it? Maybe not, because a tweet by Android’s SVP has everyone in a frenzy.

In a post on Twitter, Android’s SVP Hiroshi Lockheimer wrote, “We announced the 1st version of Android 8 years ago today. I have a feeling 8 years from now we’ll be talking about Oct 4, 2016.” Now we suppose it is his job to hype the Android train and also to hype the upcoming event, although we’re pretty sure it never really needed hyping to begin with.

However based on Lockheimer’s post, it sounds like we could be looking at more than just an announcement of smartphones and a new router. It sounds like it could have something major related to Android. During I/O earlier this year, Google unveiled Android N which has been slowly making its way to users, so it’s hard to imagine that Lockheimer could be on about that we did not already know.

In any case we guess we’ll find out in a little over a week, so remember to check back with us on the 4th of October for all the official details.
