Sony Xperia XZ Does Surprisingly Well In Taiwan

xperia_xz_2The thing about Sony phones is not that they’re not good, we guess compared to the marketing power of Apple and Samsung, and also how they have to compete on price with Chinese OEMs, people usually end up forgetting about them. However over in Taiwan it is a completely different story.

Sony launched the Xperia XZ phone earlier this month and according to reports, pre-orders for the handset opened in Taiwan yesterday and were apparently sold out within 45 minutes. Yup, we are just as surprised as you are because while we have heard stories of how hard it is to get an iPhone or a new Samsung phone, you almost never hear about Sony encountering supply issues.

However to be fair, Sony is running a pretty attractive promotion. This includes giving customers a free DK60 USB Type-C Charging Dock, a 16GB USB Type-C OTG connector, a flip style leather case and a protective back cover together with their phone’s purchase, thus making it a more value-for-money deal which we guess customers seem to be lapping right up.

We’re not sure if this surge in popularity will continue when the deal is off the table, or if we might see this spike in demand in other countries, but either way we guess this is still a victory for Sony and their mobile efforts.
