Lenovo’s First Project Tango Smartphone Out Today

The first Project Tango smartphone was unveiled by Lenovo. It showed off the Phab2 Pro earlier this year in June and said that it would be released by the fall. We heard a rumor recently which suggested that the handset might be launched on November 15th and that has indeed turned out to be the case. Lenovo today announced the release of its first Project Tango smartphone, the Phab2 Pro.

This is the first smartphone to come with Google’s new augmented reality features. It comes with a special camera and hardware that enables users to access some cool augmented reality experiences.

The Lenovo Phab2 Pro has a metal body and it’s powered by a Qualcomm Snpadragon 652 octacore processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It also features a 16 megapixel rear camera that’s capable of shooting in 4K. The handset has a 6.4 inch Quad HD resolution display aside from support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio Capture 5.1.

Lenovo’s first Project Tango smartphone is now available for purchase online directly from the company as well as its retail partners for $499, the price is for the unlocked and off-contract model. Interested customers should soon be able to purchase the Phab2 Pro from Lowe’s and other participating retailers.
