Samsung has been running the Galaxy Beta Program for a few weeks now. The program enables select members to try the beta Nougat firmware for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Samsung has released five beta builds of Nougat for the flagship so far and it appears that the company has received all the feedback it required. According to a report, the Galaxy S7 Nougat beta program might be ending soon.

The report out of China points to a post on Weibo which suggests that the fifth Nougat beta build for the Galaxy S7 that was released just a couple of days ago could very well be the last beta that Samsung sends out before publicly releasing Android 7.1.1 for its flagship smartphones.

Bear in mind, though, that this doesn’t mean the public release would be taking place soon. Once Samsung is done with the update, it has to go through the certification phase, and carriers tend to hold up a big update for a couple of weeks to run their own tests.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed when it’s going to start rolling out Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge but it’s safe to say that it won’t happen before 2017.
