Google Reportedly Finding It Hard To Meet Pixel Demand

Google announced its Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones last year. These are the first “Made by Google” smartphones and they have effectively replaced the Nexus smartphones. It appears that the Pixel handsets have performed better than Google initially, though. According to a new report, the company is finding it hard to meet consumer demand for its smartphones.

According to a report, the Pixel XL is currently out of stock on Google’s online store in 32 and 128GB configurations in every color. If you want one in either configuration you won’t be able to buy one through the Google Store. The 128GB model has actually been out of stock since November last year.

Google’s only carrier partner for the Pixel smartphones is Verizon and it’s currently quoting shipping times in the second week of March for the 128GB Pixel XL. The report mentions that finding this particular configuration in the carrier’s retail stores has been next to impossible.

The 128GB model of the smaller Pixel handset is also said to be very hard to find these days. There’s low stock at Verizon outlets while online shipments will take several weeks to arrive. If you want one in black you’ll have to wait until next month while the white ones won’t arrive until March.

A spokesperson for Google confirmed to The Verge that the company is aware about the inventory issues for its smartphones, adding that “Honestly, demand has exceeded our expectations. We’re doing our best to restock on an ongoing basis.”
