Valve Has Three ‘Full Games’ For VR In Development

According to a new report, Valve is developing three “full games” for virtual reality. This won’t be the company’s first foray into the VR segment, In case you don’t know, Valve is the co-creator of HTC’s Vive virtual reality headset. Valve founder and president Gabe Newell reportedly said at a media roundtable that “right now we’re building three VR games.”

It was also pointed out during the media roundtable that these won’t be short VR titles like The Lab, a minigame collection from Valve. Newell added that “When I say we’re building three games, we’re building three full games, not experiments.”

Newell does entertain the idea that the virtual reality hype might die down and that it might end up as a failure but he does see a considerable improvement in hardware quality over the next couple of years.

He didn’t provide any details about the three new VR games that Valve is working on but did mention that they are being developed in Valve’s own Source 2 engine as well as the Unity engine. Valve’s Source 2 engine is used in games like Dota 2.

Newell didn’t reveal during the media roundtable when these three new virtual reality games are going to be released and if they’re going to be released for platforms other than the HTC Vive as well.
