Nintendo Switch Is Biggest Nintendo Launch In Australia & New Zealand

According to the various reports we’ve been hearing so far, the Nintendo Switch has been doing pretty well in the markets that they have launched in. We’ve heard that the console is the fastest selling Nintendo console in the US during its launch week, and we heard that the console is also breaking sales records in Europe.

Turns out that the console is also doing pretty well in the Oceanic region in countries such as Australia and New Zealand. In a statement provided by Nintendo to Vooks, it reads, “We can confirm that, across Australia and New Zealand combined, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.”

We guess following the flop that was the Wii U, many gamers were excited to see Nintendo could rectify that with the Switch. So far reviews of the console have been pretty positive, although there are some aspects of the console and decisions made by Nintendo that are a bit questionable, but we guess overall the Switch still represents a huge and welcome improvement over the Wii U.

Sustainability is clearly the key here so it remains to be seen if the excitement and hype will experience a huge drop off in the coming weeks or months, or whether or not Nintendo will actually be able to maintain its momentum.
