With video game franchises, Metroid is one of the classics out there today and over the years without fail we’ve seen how Nintendo has tried to keep the franchise alive by including Samus in games like Super Smash Bros. Now it looks like fans of Metroid have something to look forward to in Metroid Prime 4.
Yup it looks like during the Nintendo Direct presentation at E3 2017, the company officially announced a new Metroid game that would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately details are next to nothing because during the teaser of the game, all we got was a logo. In fact we don’t even know the studio behind the development, although the report by Kotaku notes that it is being led by Metroid Prime series director Kensuke Tanabe with a “talented new development team.”
This seems to suggest that Retro Studios will not be the developer behind the upcoming game. As for a release date, unfortunately that’s still pretty much a mystery as well as there was no mention of that. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long, but the fact that we don’t even have a rough timeframe means that fans can probably forget about seeing it this year. In any case it is pretty exciting news and we’ll be keeping an eye out for more details when available.
