WhatsApp May Soon Let You Unsend Messages

We’ve all been there, glaring at the screen of our phone wishing there was some way to unsend the message that we just sent on its way. There are quite a few messaging services that provide users with the ability to delete text messages that they’ve already sent. According to a new report, the world’s most popular cross-platform messaging service might soon add this feature.

Following the lead of messaging apps like WeChat, Viber, and Telegram, a new report claims that WhatsApp is soon going to introduce a “Delete for everyone” feature. This feature will enable users to delete messages even after they’ve been sent, but there’s a caveat.

The delete for everyone feature will only work if the recipient hasn’t already read the message. If they’ve read it then it defeats the purpose of this feature altogether.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is reportedly testing this feature on both iOS and Android. The dedicated recall server is reportedly working and successfully deleting messages.

It’s unclear at this point in time when WhatsApp is planning to roll out this feature to its countless users across the globe. Many of them are certainly going to like having the ability to delete messages that they’ve sent by accident.
