All Current Nokia Smartphones Will Be Upgraded To Android P

The problem with Android phones is that while Google does update its Android platform occasionally, updating devices in general usually falls under the onus of the handset maker, which means that unless you own a Nexus or Pixel handset, you may or may not receive an update in a timely manner.

As we have seen, companies such as Motorola have recently drawn the ire of their customers after promising in marketing materials to update a phone to Android 8.0 Oreo, but later backing out and then having to make good on their promise again. That being said for those who are thinking of getting a Nokia handset, you’ll be pleased to learn that your phones will be updated to at least Android P.

This is according to HMD Global, the company licensed to make Nokia handsets who claimed that all of the current Nokia smartphones made by the company will be receiving the Android P update, which assuming Google sticks to their plan should be released in 2018. This means that not only will the Nokia handsets receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update, but it should be good for at least one more major Android update next year.

Of course what happens beyond that remains to be seen and whether or not these Nokia devices will be eligible to receive Android Q or later is another story.
