Several Manufacturers May Launch Foldable Smartphones Next Year

We’ve been hearing for many years now that Samsung is developing a foldable smartphone. While we’ve yet to see the company come out with one yet, ZTE launched its foldable device just last month. The ZTE Axon M is a dual screen smartphone that’s exclusive to AT&T in the United States. According to a new report, there’s going to be an influx of new foldable smartphones from several manufacturers next year.

Rumors and reports about Samsung’s foldable smartphone continue to come in. The company hasn’t said anything about its plans for a foldable smartphone as yet but the rumor mill is convinced that we’ll see one from Samsung at some point next year.

Chinese tech giant Huawei is also working on a foldable handset. The company’s dual screen smartphone is likely going to be unveiled before the end of next year.

Oppo, another Chinese manufacturer, has filed for patents related to foldable smartphones. This suggests that it’s also interested in launching dual screen smartphones. Since LG’s display subsidiary is said to be developing foldable displays, the possibility also exists that LG might jump on to the bandwagon as well at some point in the future.

If there’s a broad shift in the industry towards this form factor, we can certainly expect more companies to throw their hats in the ring.
