iPhone 6 Plus $29 Battery Replacement Delayed

There has been a lot of coverage about Apple’s decision to intentionally slow down iPhones with old batteries over the past week. Even though it offered an explanation, the company had to take a lot of criticism for the fact that it basically slowed down customers’ iPhones without telling them. It later issued an apology and promised to replace out of warranty batteries for $29 instead of the normal $79 fee. However, it appears that the $29 battery replacements for the iPhone 6 Plus have been delayed for a couple of months.

Apple is only going to replace out of warranty batteries for the iPhone 6 and newer devices. The offer is valid until the end of this year and brings down the normal replacement of $79 to $29.

It’s not that Apple is intentionally making things difficult for iPhone 6 Plus owners who want to get the battery replaced. According to a new report, the intense demand for new batteries has caused a supply constraint on replacement batteries for the iPhone 6 Plus.

Apple has reportedly circulated an internal memo to notify service providers and retail stores that it will only have the iPhone 6 Plus replacement batteries in stock either by late March or early April in the United States and other regions. The company itself hasn’t confirmed the supply constraint.

Wait times are considerably better for handsets like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus at approximately two weeks. Replacement for all other models are said to be available without extended delays in most countries across the globe with some markets in Russia, Turkey, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America being the exception.
