Sony Seeking Beta Testers For Next Major PS4 Software Update

Sony routinely recruits beta testers when it’s working on a major software update for the PlayStation 4. The company is working on one such update currently which is why it’s now seeking people to test beta iterations of the firmware before it releases the update to all users. The company wants beta testers for PS4 system software update version 5.50, this is going to be the next major update for its gaming platform.

Sony last released a major software update for the PlayStation 4 in October 2017. It brought a new family system, improved management for friends list, tweaks for messages, notifications, broadcast features, and more.

Sony has revealed that it’s working on the next major PS4 software update on its Japanese blog. That’s also where it has posted the recruitment form.

The company’s North American and European divisions have yet to make similar announcements on their blogs but given that Sony recruits beta testers in all of its major markets, it’s only a matter of time before PS4 owners in other markets will be able to throw their hat in the ring as well to test the latest beta firmware.

It’s unclear when Sony intends to release this major software update for the PlayStation 4. The company is yet to confirm what new features are included in this update.
