Nintendo Switch Continues To Dominate Hardware Sales In Japan

The Nintendo Switch console is a success and there’s no doubt about it, however you would think that over time the sales of the console would normalize, but that doesn’t appear to be the case, at least not in Japan. According to the latest stats, the Nintendo Switch is continuing to dominate the hardware sales in Japan.

Based on stats from last week, the Switch managed to sell 44,033 in that week itself. This is versus the competition like the PS4 which sold 17,457 and the PS4 Pro which only sold 7,868 units. This is followed by Nintendo’s 2DS LL, the PS Vita, the 3DS LL, the regular 2DS, and the Xbox One X and Xbox One, both of whom continue to do rather poorly at 77 and 76 units each.

Based on these figures it is clear that the Switch is well and truly ahead of the competition which isn’t even close. However the 44,000 figure is down by about 6,000 units as the previous week saw Nintendo sell a little over 50,000 units of the console. Nintendo’s Kirby Star Allies continues to be the top game for the Switch, at least in more recent times.

Slightly older titles such as Splatoon 2 continue to do pretty well, along with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. We expect that we’ll see hardware sales skyrocket once titles like Super Smash Bros. and the Pokemon RPG are released.
