Google Store Now Does Mail-In Repairs For Pixel Phones

Pixel smartphone owners who wanted to get repair work done through official channels were previously limited to third-party providers such as uBreakiFix. They will now be able to get repairs done directly from the Google Store which is running its own mail-in Repair Center for Pixel smartphones in the United States.

Repair Center is an in-house mail-in repair service that’s now available from the Google Store. This means that Pixel smartphone owners in the United States will now be able to get repair work done on their Google smartphones from the company itself.

Those wishing to send in their handset for repair will first have to enter the device’s IMEI number after which they will be presented with multiple options. If their phone is still under warranty and there’s some issue that hasn’t been caused by accidental damage then the repair work would be done for free.

If there’s a problem that’s not covered by the warranty such as water damage or cracked screens then an estimate will be provided for the repair job. A cracked screen replacement for the Pixel 2 will cost $239 before tax, for example.

Google will cover the shipping and will even offer to send the customer prepaid packaging so that they can ship their device to the Repair Center. The job will take up to 10 business days to complete after the phone is hiped.
