New Apple Watch’s ECG Feature Won’t Be Available At Launch

Apple unveiled a brand new smartwatch at its event yesterday – the Apple Watch Series 4. It’s a substantial update as there’s design improvements, a bigger display, a more powerful processor, and even an ECG feature. Yes, the device will enable you to take an Electrocardiogram right from your wrist. You’ll have to wait for this feature to go live, though, as Apple confirmed that it won’t be available at launch.

Apple is going to start taking pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 4 from tomorrow. The smartwatch will be released the following week in a couple of dozen markets across the globe starting September 21st.

The Apple Watch Series 4 is the first smartwatch of its kind to offer an ECG feature. Users will just have to place their finger on the Digital Crown for 30 seconds and the app will give them a reading. It’s even capable of analyzing the heart’s rhythms to ascertain if the heart has a regular or irregular rhythm.

The company has confirmed that this feature will be available later this year so users won’t find it at launch. Moreover, the ECG app for the Apple Watch Series 4 will be available in the United States only. It remains to be seen when this feature will be expanded to more markets across the globe.
