Snap Camera Brings Snapchat Filters To Your Desktop

Snapchat has popularized the use of filters and the company is now bringing its filters to the desktop. It has launched the Snap Camera app which will integrate with apps like Skype, Twitch, Google Hangouts, and Zoom. The app will enable users to apply Snapchat filters, or lenses as they’re called, on desktop. Snap Camera is available for both Windows and Mac.

Snap Camera on desktop allows for a variety of use cases. For example, users can apply a filter when they’re streaming themselves playing Fortnite or when they’re in a video calling with someone on Skype.

In order to use the lenses on desktop, users have to install Snap Camera and then use it as the camera output in third-party apps like Twitch. The app will allow them to access countless Snap lenses created by the company itself and the community using the Lens Studio tool. Lenses can be searched for using keywords as well.

There’s no requirement of having a Snapchat account to use this app. It’s actually not possible to log into Snapchat using this app so this is by no means an extension of that service on the desktop in an app-form. The idea here is just to let users access Snap’s lenses on desktop.

Snap Camera is available as a free download now for both Windows and Mac.
